City Ordinances
I believe that the purpose of government is to protect the lives, rights and property of the citizens. To that end, government should never become a threat to the very things it was established to preserve.
There are occurrences within the municipal code that interfere with, or threaten, the rights of the citizens of our community. I have previously opposed such ordinances and remain resolute in my opposition to such ordinances which are enforced selectively throughout our city. Such ordinances do not exist in order to prohibit bad behavior. On the contrary, they exist as revenue generators utilized by the current administration.
I opposed the "sidewalk ordinance" on behalf of the taxpayers and that issue remains unresolved. Likewise I oppose the "trash can ordinance." This issue is best handled by our homeowners associations which already have restrictions regarding the placement of trash receptacles.
